What to Wear with Colored Skinny Jeans

Okay, so we definitely love new skinny colored jeans, but don’t really know how to wear them. Some of you may already have three pairs in the closet without a clue of how to combine them with any of the tops you own. Hey! At the least you wear them right? Yes, probably with the same black, white or grey top all the time. Then you ask yourself...if they look so effortlessly great in the mannequin, why is it so hard for me to make them look great? Non-traditional jean colors can be an unknown concept for most women who are still too young to remember the 80s. And even if the 80s were a part of your life, the look today has certainly changed. If you see a picture of a model wearing an amazing pair of aqua skinny jeans they look so modern; never EVER old fashioned. The key is to bring out the edgy aspect of the jean and leave the old-school look behind. How do we accomplish this? Well, I have made a list of several recommendations that can help you at the moment of choosing what to wear with your awesome skinny jeans. Come on,  I want you to have some fun too!

When wearing colored jeans, forget for a second that they are a pair of jeans. Usually, jeans are a neutral that can be worn with ANYTHING in our closet. What happens is that when this neutral has a color, then it doesn't work well with what you regularly use with jeans. Take into consideration the hue and tone of the jeans. Try that the combination of the jean and the top, jacket or accessory you choose is an AMAZING combination. Think of modern combinations such as emerald green & turquoise, fuchsia & orange, or yellow & electric blue.

Check out the picture of the girl using a pair of yellow skinny jeans with a turquoise-greenish blouse. If color scares you and you feel a little self-conscious, then use a jacket. It will tone down the outfit a little and you will still look edgy and fabulous.

Another option is to pick a blouse or shirt that has a pattern with many colors. Make sure that one of the colors of the top match exactly the color of the jeans. Take a look at the picture with the fuchsia skinny jeans where the girl uses a floral top that has pink/fuchsia flowers.

You can also pick the same color for both the jean and the top, but in different shades. Look how amazing an electric blue blazer, turquoise pants and a cute aqua top look. You can do this combining different tones of any color. Orange is a great option with peach and a light orange or beish.

An animal print is another way to make a colored jean outfit pop. Take a look at this bright orange jean and leopard top. If you want to be more subtle then use your colored jeans with a neutral like beish, white or black and add the print in the handbag; like this electric blue jeans and animal print envelope.

A bag can definitely make up the outfit. Pick a neutral shirt like this cute jean top with a pair of cherry red skinny jeans and finish the look by adding a bright emerald green clutch. Gold jewelry will add a nice touch too!

When using pastel hues, keep the combination within the same color family. Check out this pair of mint jeans with a light pink blazer and cute scarf. You can pick one item of the outfit to have a stronger hue. Pick something small like an accessory, in this case the scarf, and this will make the outfit come together.

Another trick can be to combine your jeans with a girly fabric such as lace. Take a look at this: beautiful cream lace top and pink jeans…just lovely!

If you are a rock and roll girl, this could be another route for you. Pick your favorite colored jeans and give them some personality by adding a grey or white top and a leather jacket. Add some funky accessories and you are good to go!

If after all these recommendations you still feel safe using your grey, white or black top only, then I invite you to add a spark of color by adding a bold colored accessory. Take a look at this outfit with yellow mustard jeans, dark grey/silver top, light grey sweater and a bold orange necklace. A pair of pumps within the same color family of the jeans also adds an edge to the overall look. Start with this and then little by little you might feel more comfortable and will try the rest of the recommendations here! Good luck!
